Stake Pool Operator

Hi! I'm Patrick Tobler - the Stake Pool Operator behind the Pool of Babel. I've been following the Cardano development since 2017 and have been gradually becoming more & more interested in the project. I truly believe that Cardano will change the world.
When I'm not wearing my Stake Pool Operator suit, I'm a Computer Science student from Stuttgart, Germany. I'm in Cardano for the long run & will contribute to the ecosystem by building decentralized software using the Cardano Blockchain.

Why should you stake on the Pool of Babel?

  • Servers around the world: BABEL is running on servers around the world and will keep adding more locations to the list.
  • Commited to decentralization BABEL is not hosted on AWS, Google Cloud or any other big host service. Instead it's hosted on a small VPS in Germany.
  • Run by an individual: There is no big corporation behind BABEL. It's run by me, Patrick Tobler and you can always contact me directly when you run into concerns or problems.

The Server will be upgraded whenever the network requires it.

  • What is Cardano?
Cardano is a decentralized public blockchain and cryptocurrency project and is fully open source.
It combines pioneering technologies to provide unparalleled security and sustainability
to decentralized applications, systems, and societies.
  • What is a Stake Pool?
A stake pool is a reliable server node that focuses on maintenance and holds the combined
stake of various stakeholders in a single entity. Stake pools are responsible for processing
transactions and producing new blocks and are at the core of Ouroboros, the Cardano proof-of-stake protocol.
  • How does that benefit me?
By staking your delegating your Ada to a Stake Pool you directly participate in the network and
help increasing the robustness and decentralization of Cardano. For this you can receive a monetary reward in Ada.

  • How do I delegate my Ada to a stake pool?
To delegate your Ada you simply open up a wallet (e.g. Daedalus, Yoroi or Adalite) and select a Stake Pool
(preferably BABEL) in the Staking menu directly in the wallet.
Each wallet looks a bit different but overall it's very straight forward.
  • What should I look for when delegating my stake?
The main parameters to look at when delegating your stake to a pool are
  • The saturation: If it's too high you will not receive the optimal amount of rewards,
if it's too low the pool might not produce blocks very often.
  • The pool margin: This is the % of Ada that the Stake Pool itself receives from every mined block.
  • The cost per epoch: The fixed amount of Ada that the Stake Pool receives from every mined block.
BABEL will keep this at the lowest possible amount.
